INSTITUTE FOR COMPUTATIONAL EARTH SYSTEM SCIENCE
Area of Specialization: Physical Limnology
A position at the Postdoctoral level is available at the University of California, Santa Barbara. in physical limnology with an emphasis on the linkages between internal waves. turbulence, and ecological processes. We are further addressing the linkages between large scale atmospheric dynamics and the surface forcing of lakes with the goal of placing process studies in a larger context. Study sites include lakes in the arctic and temperate zone. The position is full time with the title of Assistant Specialist ($44,400 per year plus benefits). The initial appointment is for 1-year on the multiyear project; continuation beyond one year will be based on performance and availability of funding. Applicants must have an earned Ph.D. in physical limnology, physical oceanography, environmental engineering, or aquatic ecology with demonstrated experience in analysis and interpretation of observational data, and a record of communicating research results. As the research is in part field oriented, the candidate should have proven ability to conduct research successfully under arduous held conditions. Experience in hydrodynamical modeling and working as part of an interdisciplinary team are also desirable.
