MATERIALS DEPARTMENT

Areas of Research:

Bio/Macromolecular Materials: Electronic/Photonic Polymers, Coatings, Complex Fluids, Biomaterials, Biosurfaces, Supramolecular Assemblies.

Electronic Materials: Compound Semiconductors, Nitride-based materials, Heterostructures, Devices, MEMS.

Inorganic Materials: Catalysts, Meso/Micro/Nanoporous Materials, Photonic crystals, Ferroelectrics, Magnetic Materials.

Structural Materials: Advanced Alloys, Ceramics and Polymers; High Performance Composites, Thermal Barrier Coatings, Multifunctional Materials.

Applications are invited for anticipated research positions for 2007-08 in the area of Materials Science and Engineering. Appointments will be for one year with the possibility of limited reappointments on an annual basis in accordance with applicable personnel policies and availability of finding. Applicants should possess a professional degree (Ph.D., D.Sc., M.Sc.) or equivalent in Engineering/Physical Sciences and expertise relevant to one of the research areas noted above. Depending on area the preferred expertise may be on theory, computational modeling and simulation, synthesis, processing science, advanced characterization, structural evolution, property measurements and structure-property relationships.
