Fellowship in Cognitive Approaches to Literary Studies
The UC Santa Barbara English Department invites applications for the Arnhold Faculty Fellowship. This fellowship has a tem of one year. The fellowship offers recent recipients of the Ph.D. (awarded between January 1, 2007, and June 30, 2010) a unique opportunity to develop their research and teaching interests in association with the UCSB English Department’s Literature & Mind concentration, which organizes research activities and offers a curricular specialization (see http://mind.english.ucsb.edu/).
The fellowship is designed to attract a scholar not currently in a tenure track position whose approach to literary studies would complement the balance of approaches in the Literature & Mind concentration by being centrally engaged with recent development sin neuro/cognative science, neuro/cognative linguistics, and/or history of mind. We welcome candidates who have an interest in conjunctions and disjunctions between the science and the humanities.
The Fellow will assist in the development of research and curricular programs related to Literature & Mind and teach four courses, one of which would be a graduate research colloquium related the Fellow’s research project. The position requires full-time residence at UCSB during the 2010-11 academic year. Compensation includes an annual salary of $51, 500 plus a research fund of $3,000.
