Postdoctoral Position in Community/Ecosystems Ecology
A postdoctoral position is
available for a highly qualified individual to work on a newly funded National
Science Foundation grant that examines how species diversity can simultaneously
be the cause and the consequence of ecosystem productivity. The goal of this project is to test the
‘Multivariate Diversity-Productivity’ hypothesis, which proposes one possible way
that the historical perspective that productivity-drives-diversity might be fused
with the more recent perspective that diversity-drives-production. The project will use stream ecosystems as a
model, focusing on both primary producers (algae) and consumers (invertebrate
herbivores). The work includes field and
laboratory experiments, as well as a theoretical component through
collaboration with Dr. Kevin Gross at
Applicants must have an excellent

Continued funding is available for a second year given satisfactory
progress. The position is available
