Area of specialization: Any social sciences and humanities areas of Chicana and Chicano, Latina and Latino Studies.

The Department of Chicana and Chicano Studies at the University of California, Santa Barbara invites applications for three anticipated one-year Visiting Professor positions in academic year 2008-2009. The Department welcomes qualified applicants with a Ph.D. by the time of appointment in any social sciences and humanities areas of Chicana and Chicano, Latina and Latino Studies. Of particular interest to the Department are scholars specializing in the broadly conceptualized fields of political history; immigration studies; art theories, art practices, and/or art history; LGBT/queer genders and sexualities; and literature. The visiting scholars will each teach a total of four courses, three undergraduate and one graduate. There is a flexibility of a two- or three-quarter appointment in academic year 2008-2009. Annual salary is approximately $50,000-$60,000, based on qualifications and experience, and will include core benefits.
